Digital signage and kiosk firm intros new cloud-based content manager

Clarence, N.Y.-based inLighten, a provider in the field of digital signage, interactive, self-service and audio solutions, has announced the release of Manager 5, the next generation of its cross-browser, Web-based management system for hosted digital signage networks.

A cloud-based solution, Manager 5 features a completely re-designed graphical user interface that is the result of a 12-month-long exploration of what thousands of product users desired in an ideal content management and network control solution, the company said. "This was one of the most inclusive development projects we've undertaken in our 25-year history — soliciting direct input from more than 1,000 client organizations and combining it with an analysis of user behavior gathered over a two-year period for use by our product development team in creating Manager 5," said Jeff Taylor, inLighten VP of operations, in the announcement.

The look of the new interface is contemporary and the advanced controls are more intuitive and fluid for increased user productivity, the company said. Several new features have been added including:

- Links for the display of user-defined Twitter feeds and YouTube content
- User-directed connectivity to customized RSS and other data feeds
- Access to an online news bureau where users choose from a wide selection of content offerings and compose program schedules tailored for appeal to their unique audiences
- Tools that extend display life by assigning blackout schedules, optimize bandwidth usage by setting content pickup intervals, monitor network status and servicing and much more.

The company's Manager 5 release represents the first phase of a multi-stage product development initiative intended to extend the company's reach in hosted digital media networks, the announcement said. According to inLighten CEO and founder, Dan Snyder, "The release of Manager 5 is the first step of a two-year development effort that will result in an unprecedented expansion and evolution of our entire product line during the coming 18 months. We are very excited about the future of digital signage and believe our technology advances in the near future will transform our industry."
